The OCD & Scrupulosity Clinic
Welcome to the OCD & Scrupulosity Clinic!
While we specialize in treating OCD and Scrupulosity (religious & moral OCD) in people with ties to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, individuals of any religious or non-religious background are welcome. Our team is dedicated and passionate about helping you find health and happiness.
Dr. Debra Theobald McClendon is the owner and training director of The OCD & Scrupulosity Clinic. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Utah offering in-person or telehealth services to adults (or seniors in high school that are homeschooled). She is a Clinical Psychologist with training in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a member of the International OCD Foundation (www.iocdf.org). She specializes in treating religious and moral obsessive-compulsive disorder (Scrupulosity/OCD-S) and offers gold-standard OCD treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention.
Dr. McClendon is committed to meeting her clients' needs. She wants you to be successful at reaching your treatment goals and works with dedication to provide the quality of treatment you need to help you build health and happiness. She is accepting clients for her waitlist (see 'Services' tab).
Claire Breedlove, LCSW has immediate openings for those with scrupulosity, and also accepts cases with other OCD themes that do not have a scrupulosity component. She can work with those that live in Utah, California, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas (currently in the process of also getting licensed in Arizona and Idaho) with flexible scheduling, including evening appointments. She can also work with children and teens (see her bio on the 'About' tab),
You may want to purchase Dr. McClendon's in-depth online course "Your Guide to Scrupulosity (Religious OCD)."
Dr. McClendon's newest book "Freedom from Scrupulosity: Reclaiming Your Religious Experience from Anxiety and OCD" is now available for purchase on DeseretBook.com, Amazon.com, or Barnes and Noble. Watch the book trailer here. A podcast discussing principles from the book was released September 29, 2023.
Dr. McClendon is also a dynamic public speaker. She is speaking at BYU Education Week, August 2024 (4-day comprehensive course series on anxiety)!
