Contact Us For OCD & Scrupulosity Treatment
We are committed to meeting your needs. We want you to be successful at reaching your treatment goals and will work with dedication to provide the quality of treatment you need to help you build health and happiness. While we specialize in treating OCD & Scrupulosity (religious & moral OCD) in people with ties to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, individuals of any religious or non-religious background are welcome.
Dr. McClendon offers telehealth services for OCD and is accepting clients for her waitlist (see 'Services' tab for details).
OCD treatment is time intensive requiring daily attention to structured Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) exercises. Adequate OCD treatment is not simply talk-therapy or general counseling, and engages in exposure exercises in a structured, rigorous manner to enact lasting therapeutic change. Be cautious of any OCD treatment provider that claims to provide ERP that does not require a substantial out-of-session time commitment from you as a client. If you do not feel you can dedicate committed time to therapy tasks outside of session (approximately 1 hour per day) due to your present schedule or circumstances, you may want to reconsider whether entering therapy at this time is the appropriate decision for you.
To quality for personalized treatment with Dr. McClendon you will:
1. Be an adult (or homeschooled high school senior) resident of Utah or a resident of one of the other qualifying U.S. states. (See the 'Services' tab for states that qualify).
2. Struggle with issues of religious and/or moral OCD: scrupulosity (OCD-S). You may also struggle with other OCD themes (germ/contamination OCD, relationship OCD, harm OCD, pedophilia OCD, sexual orientation OCD, etc.) but you also have some religious component to your OCD struggles.
3. Be willing to commit a minimum of 1 hour per day for therapy assignments
4. Consider purchasing Dr, McClendon's online scrupulosity course Your Guide to Scrupulosity (Religious OCD). It is linked on the Resources page. It is a great resource to go ahead and get started on treatment—you can start making therapy progress today with Dr. McClendon teaching and leading you through the course content. The course introduces much of what she teaches in session, so it is a good start and reference point throughout the therapy process and saves time in session (which ultimately saves you money as you will need fewer therapy sessions). Don’t just watch the course videos for general information, pause the videos and work on the exercises when she introduces them. Spend time practicing the exercises. For best results, touch your therapy work in some way every day. Then, when it is your turn to be able to meet with Dr. McClendon, you will be better prepared for therapy and can maximize your in-session time with her by focusing on what you need to continue to personalize the treatment and work any stuck points.
Again, Dr. McClendon is accepting telehealth clients for her waitlist.
If you would like to be considered for personalized treatment with Dr. McClendon please leave your contact information, as well as your resident state and a detailed comment. We will get back to you shortly. If you have previously purchased the Dr. McClendon's online scrupulosity course or her scrupulosity book "Freedom from Scrupulosity," please indicate that in your comment as well.
You may generally expect a response via email within 24 hours. Those leaving comments on the weekend or over a holiday will receive responses the following business day. If you have not received a response, please check your spam folder. If it seems you have not received a response please feel free to follow up. Thank you.
